Lauren A. Atwood concentrates her practice in the area of civil litigation before state and federal trial and appellate courts.  She represents clients in personal injury matters, including medical malpractice actions, product liability, and motor vehicle accidents.  She also represents clients in a variety of commercial litigation matters, including business and employment disputes, covenants not to compete, business tort and breach of fiduciary duty claims, partnership and corporate controversies, claims concerning breaches of commercial contracts, and property disputes.  In addition, she regularly handles debt collection matters involving obtaining and enforcing judgments and negotiating settlements, as well as residential and commercial real estate transactions.

She is admitted to practice in New York, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

A cum laude graduate of the State University of New York at Cortland, Ms. Atwood earned her law degree cum laude from Albany Law School of Union University. While in law school, she served as a senior editor of the Albany Law Review. She also served as judicial intern to the Hon. Eugene P. Devine, J.S.C. and the Hon. David R. Homer, United States Magistrate Judge. Upon graduation, she was inducted into the Justinian Society, Albany Law School’s honorary legal scholarship society for excellence in legal scholarship.

Ms. Atwood is a member of the Albany County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Capital District Women’s Bar Association, and the Capital Alliance of Young Professionals.
